Has anybody had any luck having the throttle body replaced when its showing symptoms WITHOUT the wrench light coming on?

My 2009 Escape has actually stalled 3-4 times in the year I've owned it (always after driving at HWY speeds, and then stopping at the end of an off ramp) in addition to multiple instances of the throttle not responding (sometimes for a fraction of a second, some times for 3-4 seconds). Unfortunately, the wrench light never goes on, and my dealer never manages to reproduce the problem (of course) when I do have it in, and won't do anything about it.

Any other pointers about how I can get this addressed, or do I just have to wait until it gets so bad that the light finally goes on?

I'm in your same situation, even though it has never stalled it happens often that the throttle doesn't respond promptly at the gas pedal, very hesitant especially if I floor it
The dealer has done the pcm update which made the engine more responsive, but the hesitation often still there and they would not replace the throttle body unless there's a faulty code.
I found a place where they sell the new throttle body decently cheap (~$110) and I'll do the swap myself (very easy)….

Interesting. I went on to Parts Geek, and they are doing the throttle bodies for $75-$90.

I wonder if maybe the gaskets aren't included?

You don't need a new gasket if the original is in good conditionare those prices included shipping?
And I would make sure they are OEM

I received a letter today from my insurance company about a Drive Safe & Save discount. I signed up and had to run a vehicle health report. I just looked at the report and it shows and orange exclamation mark on the Recalls and Field Service Action. It says there are recalls for your 2012 Ford Escape at this time. Yet, when I click the area to expand the note it shows it's notice 13N03, Electronic Throttle Body Extended Coverage. The short note says A recall is an action by the Company to remedy a safety or emissions related concern related to a vehicle defect or other legal requirement. It may require that you return your vehicle to the dealer for service.



It's been awhile since I've run a VHR. When I was talking to my insurance earlier about their discount mentioned above I saw this letter and it says it was updated on 3/19/15. Not sure if it was updated because I logged into my Sync account or if this recall came down today. Anybody else have any insight on this.

Did you get a chance to check here, and see if any recalls apply to your vehicle? You can also contact your dealer to verify this information as well.
