2012 doors locks not functioning

My 2012 Escape will not lock the passenger door. The lock button seems stuck unlocked (up). This cannot be pushed down (lock), the lock button on door or remote do not have any affect. Need to replace something, but what

Update, we think this is the "actuator" for the passenger lock? Also, my son informs me this is a 2008 Escape

Could be. I think you maybe correct. do you hear any sound from the door or see the lock plunger attempt to move on command? Which passenger door? Front or rear?

I'm checking the factory troubleshooting instructions.

Step one, single door lock inoperative.
B1 CHECK THE DOOR LATCH FOR BINDING
LOCK and UNLOCK the inoperative door lock using the door lock rod.
Does the door LOCK and UNLOCK?

Yes: Go to direction B2
NO: INSTALL a new door latch. REFER to Front Door Latch or Rear Door Latch in this section.

Front door Latch Removal
Removal and Installation

Item	Specification
Multi-Purpose Grease XG-4 and/or XL-5	ESB-M1C93-B

NOTE: The door glass must be completely raised.

1. Remove the front door trim panel. For additional information, refer to Section 501-05 .
   
2. Position the water shield aside.
3. Remove the exterior front door handle reinforcement. For additional information, refer to Door Handle Reinforcement — Exterior, Front in this section.
4. Remove and discard the 3 front door latch bolts. - To install, tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).
   
5. Disconnect the front door latch electrical connector.
6. Remove the front door latch.
7. Slide the front door latch towards the front of the vehicle.
8. Remove the front door latch with the door lock actuating rod and the interior door handle actuating cable.
   
   
9. If necessary, remove the door lock actuating rod and the interior door handle actuating cable.
10. To install, reverse the removal procedure. - Lubricate the front door latch to striker surfaces after installation, with Multi-Purpose Grease XG-4 and/or XL-5.

Door Handle Reinforcement — Exterior, Front

Removal and Installation

NOTE: The door glass must be completely raised.

1. Remove the exterior front door handle. For additional information, refer to Exterior Front Door Handle in this section.
2. Disconnect the door latch carrier.
   A. Release the retainer and position the door latch carrier aside.
   B. Remove the exterior front door handle reinforcement screw.
   
3. Disconnect the actuating rods.
   A. If necessary, disconnect the lock cylinder actuating rod from the exterior front door handle reinforcement.
   B. Disconnect the exterior front door handle reinforcement actuating rod from the front door latch.
   
4. Remove the exterior front door handle reinforcement with the exterior front door handle reinforcement actuating rod.
5. If necessary, remove the exterior front door handle reinforcement actuating rod.
6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Removal and Installation

1. Remove the front door trim panel. For additional information, refer to Section 501-05 .
2. Position the watershield aside.
3. Remove the exterior front door handle cover retaining screw from the door handle reinforcement .
   
4. Remove the exterior front door handle cover.
   A. Pull the exterior front door handle open.
   B. Pivot the rear of the exterior front door handle cover and remove.
   
5. Remove the exterior front door handle.
   A. Open and pull the exterior front door handle rearward to release and remove.
   
6. If necessary, remove the exterior front door handle seals.
7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Yeah, sorry this is a 2008 Escape. It is the front passenger side lock. When i try to lock/unlock with the button, or key fob the door button stays unlocked. No movement at all, it can't be pushed down either.

Anyone know if you can print these posts?

Directions are for an 08 front handle. 09-12 are very close. No one is stopping you from printing.
