Strut tower brace installed

I just wanted to bump this thread to see how the strut tower brace has held up over the years. Just generally and in the northern areas with lots of snow and salt etc.

I've been contemplating getting one for the Escape for a while.

I'm balancing on the fence on this. It seems great, but with three kids, $180 is a lot of money.

So....I was close to ordering the brace here (https://www.ebay.ca/itm/07-12-Mazda-Tri ... #vi-ilComp) but, when selecting the "Flex" on my 2010 Limited 6 cyl., it is telling me it's not compatible, but, when choosing "gas", it is. Any ideas?

Also, has anyone grabbed a hold of their brace and given the car a good shake? Is there any flex in the brace at all? Or is it entirely stiff...only shaking the car?

Just ordered mine.

This engineer put the whole concept to the test and concludes that at best, strut braces for your typical modern car is "gimmicky." I guess I'll find out once I install mine.

Arrived today. Going on tomorrow.

Took more than 10 minutes....more like an hour. Had to drill out 3 holes intended for the plastic threaded studs as the holes weren’t big enough. Some advice when installing:

Make sure you have your Loctite with you. I forgot mine but torqued down the 8 nuts anyways.
Position the 2 bolts that tighten the bar to the mounting plates so they can be pulled out toward the front of the vehicle. They’re too long to push through with the firewall plastic in the way.

You’ll have to figure out how to tighten down the wiring harness as the plastic hold down clamp will no longer fit over plastic stud which is too close to the mounting plate.

To be honest, I need to take the Escape for a snappier trip around the block, and on dry pavement, to notice the difference.

Looks as though I’m talking to myself haha.
After a bit of driving, I think the bar does make a difference. Having said that, new struts and shocks have really changed the ride more than anything else. But, yeah, I think there’s something to it.
