2010 Escape Limited and new struts

Postby csonni - November 27th, 2019, 11:51 pm

I’m looking at replacing all 4 struts and would like to get a more solid ride. Seems to be between Monroe and KYB. Any recommendations? Also, is there any other component I should consider replacing along with the struts?

I think I decided on KYB. How about rear springs when replacing shocks? Should they be replaced or upgraded for a better ride?

I’m actually thinking of changing out the control arms, ball joints, links, etc. With Moog parts.
For mods, does anyone have a list of what to replace for front an back? The rear sway bar links were replaced a few years ago. How about bushings? Oversized sway bar? Accessories for coil springs? I’m not looking at raising or lowering necessarily, although a bit lower would be okay.

Just put in a rather large order.

Front KYB Struts (SR4105, SR4106)
MOOG Control Arms and Ball Joints (CK80397, CK80398)
MOOG Front and Rear Sway Bar Links (K80296, K750571)
Rear KYB Gas Shocks (349101)
MOOG Coil Springs and insulators (80657, K160111)

Good thing I have a membership at the local Auto Hobby Club with lifts and all).

So, I’ve got the new struts, shocks and sway bar links on so far. Quite a big difference in the feel of the ride. It feels like a newer vehicle. Before replacing the front lower control arms and ball joints, I’m wondering if I should wait till I’m ready to do the front brake job and replacing the tie rod ends as well. Not sure if I want to separate the ball joint again to do those 2 things. I also want to avoid and additional wheel alignment.

I'm sorta thinking I'll do something similar to then when mine gets closer to 100k (I plan to keep it a fair bit longer)....Did you take it in for alignment after the front install or do that yourself?
