Possible suggestion on pictures.

Postby KickinUpMud - October 15th, 2014, 11:36 am

I am member on some fish forums because im a fish nut. The way they handle uploaded photos for a forum discussion was quite cool.

No matter what size the original image is when uploaded the site will automatically size it down until clicked on. When clicked it gets thrown into a full size.

I think something like this would really benefit this forum with all the pictures being posted. It would allow more posts to page because of the smaller size of the photo.

My 2 cents :peace:

Different system. I believe to do that, the file needs to be uploaded to the forums servers. While it would be nice to be able to do this, the cost of hosting all those photos is prohibitive. This is why we ask the members here to upload photos to external hosting servers.

You have to remember we are completely supported by the fellow that runs this site. That is why there are no advertisers or sponsors, and we don't permit advertising on the site. Sure there are some trade-offs but in the end, we think it leads to a much better user experience.

Ok. Totally makes sense. In my experience the less ada :thumb: and garbage on a site the better. Thanks for the explanation!
