Does your 2008-2012 escape have a "power transfer unit" (transfercase) drain plug... Mine appears to be welded shut.

There is only a side fill plug, so you have to have to suck out the old stuff via that, and fill it until the level is at the bottom of the fill plug. Some PTUs on some vehicles (mainly larger with the ecoboost and 6F55 transmissions) have a drain, some have a cooler.

My 2011 has just the side fill plug. I have used a suction pump twice and seems like I got most of the old crud out. I replaced with Lucas 75-140 and so far things seem to be OK. Plan on doing it each spring along with a partial trans oil change. FORD REALLY DROPPED THE BALL ON THIS ONE.
