Sounds like it is time to shop around, you should be eligible for a multi vehicle discount.

 

Insurance rates are based on many factors. Your credit, number of accidents that you are at fault for, the likelihood of a given vehicle you have listed on the policy being stolen are some of the factors used. I agree it may be time to shop around for a different company. You can also look at possibly increasing your deductibles to lower your rate.

 

i wasnt sure if being a hybrid made any difference in the premiums. the coverage for both vehicles is the same, i just couldnt figure out why the escape was double

 

Your Hybrid will be declared a total loss more quickly than an ICE Escape.

 

for a 20yr old car I would just do liability only, at that age and miles I bet insurance will not even try to fix it and just pay you the book value if you're not at fault. Both have nearly identical book/resale values but since the hybrid has more electronics (expensive parts) to replace insurance deemed it expensive to repair. Doesn't make sense to have higher premium for a comprehensive coverage and what they'll do is junk it (pay you the book value)

 

i guess im not stating this right . i have 2 vehicles, 05 ford f150 and 06 ford escape with the same coverage on each 1. my premiums per 6 months for the f150 is $300 and the escape they want $600, total of $900 every 6 months. why would the escape cost 2 times as much as the f150. i dont have full coverage on either car.
