My daughter has broken the socket so it hangs out by it's wires. I need to replace it. Googling it has been of no use, all I get are gimmicky sockets. Does anybody have a part # that will fit and stay put?

The actual socket itself is probably part number 6W7Z-15055-A but I don't know what year you have, and where this is located. Also some are lit (have a glowing ring around them) and others don't, so that might make a difference (and how they are wired up).

Also be aware that this same socket is used in many Fords. It seems to be the same one from my 2000 Grand Marquis, and I pulled one from something else to replace it. I probably have at least 10 of them in my parts pile, most still in the cup holder/ash trays. If you have a you pull it junk yard, they are usually a couple of bucks.

The part that might change, and the part that might be broken, is the retainer, and there are a few variations on it. Like 1L2Z-15K040-AA I like to practice removing stuff like that on vehicles in the junk yard so if I break it, it wasn't mine, and hope the next one doesn't break. I think I have a youtube video of taking them apart, but I can't seem to find it.

2009 FEH, had the same issue, it was easy to repair. I searched for the bezel on eBay. YouTube the replacement of it, it is easy to mess up the new one if you just guessed at it.

You may be able to use one of the universal parts sold at auto parts stores. Most outlets are the same diameter, so you want to match the inner portion (some old ones had spring 'grabbers' that held the cigar lighter until it got hot), and the rest should likely be the same.
One thing I noticed is that the 'power outlet' sockets I got from overseas were generous in their diameter, allowing plugged-in adapter to sag. I plan on squeezing the walls or adjustable 'tabs' to help hold things more tightly.
