Hey all
2008 Escape
Hoping you may be able to point me in the right direction here. My wife told me that the heat AND AC were not working properly in our 2008 Ford Escape (not hybrid..base model). It seems that no matter where the dial is set (Cold/Hot, AC on/off) it blows the same temperature. The temp starts cold and warms up as the engine heats up. It stays a luke warm and doesn't changed despite adjusting the hot/cold dial.
I checked and fluids look good. The "heater coil lines" going in to the firewall are both hot to the touch, so I don't THINK there is a blockage. I do recall a bit ago hearing a clicking sound behind the radio/HVAC area on the center console. It sounded like a cd player trying to read a CD, but it continued despite me turning the power off on the radio and removing CD's so i know it was something else.
the only thing i can think is that it may be the blend door actuator. Since our Escape does not have the dual climate or auto/digital climate control, it is my understanding that we only have one Blend Door, and it happens to be the one behind the dash that is the biggest pain
The thing that confuses me is that in what i have read, if it is the blend door, than the MAX AC should still work. In my case, the temperature does not change when i select MAX AC...it stays the same temp as it does on normal setting. I do hear the air "adjust" when i select MAX AC, which i guess is it changing vents??? But it does not get cooler.
Any thoughts? If it is the RH door blend, anyone have any tips or "how to's" when it comes to accessing it? Thanks in advance!!
